VF5 R.E.V.O. has been a blast š®
I’ve been putting time into Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. lately and honestly it’s climbing high on my list of favorite 3D fighters…
The game feels tight, deliberate, and super satisfying once it clicks. At first I struggled with movement because I’m used to more fluid fighters where you can adjust on the fly. In VF5 you really have to commit to your inputs, but once I understood that timing and commitment are part of the flow, it started feeling as fluid and fast as the games I’m used to.
They’re also rolling out crossplay across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam which means everyone can finally fight together no matter where they play.
Virtua Fighter holds a special place in my heart. Virtua Fighter 1, which came out in 1993, was the very first 3D fighter I ever played. My uncle used to destroy me in VF1 and VF2 on the Sega Saturn (yes, showing my age). He beat me like he was trying to teach me a life lesson I didnāt ask for. By not taking it easy on me, he introduced me to struggle early on and honestly, Iām grateful for it. Those beatdowns are what got me hooked on 3D fighters in the first place.
Even though Virtua Fighter 5 came out back in 2006, the fun factor still competes with the latest 3D fighter releases. It feels fresh, punishing, and deep.
I’m a big fan of helping each other improve, especially since this is one of those games that rewards patience, timing, and discipline. Virtua Fighter is all about learning from your mistakes and adapting to your opponent, and that kind of growth happens best when youāre testing yourself against others. Iron sharpens iron, and the more we challenge each other, the sharper we all become. Plus, this should be great preparation for when Virtua Fighter 6 eventually releases.
If anyone else here has been playing or wants to jump in when crossplay drops, let’s run some matches. If any of the Xiaolin Hustle crew is interested in picking it up, I will gladly meet them on the battlefield. āļø
